Parents and COPPA
The Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) and the Children's
Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus provide
laws and guidelines to which the FGA strives to adhere. Parents, please help your
children have great experiences online by teaching them to never provide Personal
Information (full name, real address, email address, phone number, and the like)
without your permission.
If you want to review the information collected, delete it, set permissions for
future collections, set how and when you or your child receive emails and other
material, or UNSUBSCRIBE your address from emails, you can do so by:

NOTES TO OUR UNDER 13 USERS
Why we collect information
In order to make this site as fun, safe and worthwhile as we can, we collect different
kinds of information at different times. For example, we want to know what games
and Wisdom Acts are most popular, what clothing items really rock, and what songs
you can't seem to get enough of. So, we track your online activity, as a guest,
a registered user, an enrolled student, or online shopper to understand what you
like, and what you don't, what we might improve, and what we might ditch.
If you are under 13, you should never just give out Personal Information, such as
your full name, home address, phone number and the like. Only your parents, or with
your parent's permission, should you ever provide this info to Fairy Godmother Academy
or any other website.
What information we collect from different Users
Guests - FREE
You may for free and without providing any information, play with most of the features
of the site, including read parts of the book, dress up Birdie and friends in fantastic
clothes, listen to songs and other stuff as a “Guest” of the Academy.
Registered or "Joined" users - FREE
If you are under 13, and want to create an account to save creations, your progress,
or have a giftcard allowance, you must become “Registered”, which means
we will collect only non-personally identifiable information (screen-name and birth
date). If you want a giftcard allowance from your parents to buy songs, gifts, special
clothes and the like, they will have to provide their credit card information and
their email address. This feature is available from your Private Profile, viewable
only by you when you are signed in and go to
http://FairyGodmotherAcademy.com/friends/me, and then clicking the “Giftcard”
tab near the top of that section.
Paying or "Enrolled" Users with Online Friends and Messaging – $2.99
To be part of the social network where you find friends and send and receive messages
or to make your voice public in the Million Girl Choir, you must become “Enrolled.”
This means you must not yet have had your 13th birthday, you must ask your parents
to provide their credit card information, to agree to the terms, and to pay $2.99.
This step allows us to employ more chaperons, and tie a real physical address to
all the activity of an user and connect a parent or guardian to a child, which is
an added measure of security your parents will love.
Special Activities and Features
If you are under 13, you can get your parent's permission to volunteer extra
information in order to play in certain activities, to enter contests, or to get
email updates and the like. You can provide your parent's email address and we will
follow up with them for you, or have them sit with you and fill in their information
when the websites asks for it. You only have to get them to help the first time,
because, if you are Registered or Enrolled, we will save their permission in your
account,
Online Store and Giftcard Accounts
To buy things from the Fairy Godmother Academy requires your parent's valid credit
card number, expiration date, physical address, phone number and email address.
Your parents can also provide you a pre-paid giftcard account, so that you can buy
items without going back to get your parents. They will have to provide the same
information as well as your online FGA SCREEN-NAME (not your real name) and BIRTHDATE
to make sure you get the giftcard account.
Get your parents involved, keep them involved
We strive to collect only as much information as is needed for any specific activity.
If you are under 13, a Parent's email is required at the time of 'Joining' the Academy, which is done by filling in the optional "I'm New" form found on the home page or from the "I'm New" button found on every other page.
How and when we might share your information
From time to time, we will share group information with partners and vendors, in
a way that does not include or allow any personally identifiable information.
We might allow other companies to see such information to help complete some
activities, such as send physical mail or purchases, contest prizes or the like, but only if they agree
to keep it secret and then destroy it after their job is done.
We do not share email addresses with other companies, although we may send to you
email on their behalf if we think you actually would want to know about it, such
as contests, coupons, special deals, and the like. If, in the future, another company controls
FGA Media, they will also control the information in FGA Media's databases.
How is your information kept safe
We keep your information safe by encrypting it (putting it in a secret code), and
only sharing it with members of our own team and with partners who provide services,
we ensure they agree to keep it secret, and keep it only as long as they need to
perform their services. When you buy things or provide any credit card or
address or phone number information, we use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and other
technologies to keep the information safe when transmitted.
Optional, voluntary and automated info collection
To learn how to make this site as fun, rewarding, safe and clever as possible, we
collect information both when you volunteer it to Register, Enroll, enter contests,
sweepstakes and the like, as well as automatically through the use of cookies, clear
gifs, and session tracking.
The anonymous information collected by cookies and session tracking,
methods used by the vast majority of professionals to make better sites, happens
automatically and is limited to anonymous or general information, such as your internet
address (“IP address”), your area of the country, and the kind of browser
or size of your screen.
This info allows us to understand what pages are popular, which are not, and how
you travel around the site, and for how long.

we make material changes to how this policy affects the private information of our
